Dr. Laima Gerlitz and research associate Elizaveta Diatlova represented Hochschule Wismar as “DigitechPort2030” partner during the Baltic Ports Conference in Klaipėda, Lithuania. Besides networking with representatives from different maritime stakeholders they also used the opportunity to discuss new perspectives and challenges within the maritime industries.

Further the partners of the “DigitechPort2030” project also used the opportunity to meet up and discuss the progress during the first year of the project. During a by Dr. Laima Gerlitz led Lego Design Thinking Workshop stakeholder and guests developed visions on ports and maritime economy. That led up to a discussion of the preparation for green energy transition in the small medium sized ports ecosystem. During a second workshop representatives of the maritime industry and project partners explored the possibilities of using A.I. to tackle the decarbonisation of ports. “Digiport2030” will now go further in the testing of decarbonization pilots in small and medium sized ports.

During a boattrip through the habour of Klaipėda all participants could also see the challenges and solutions the maritime industry is facing right now.

“DigitechPort 2030” is an EU-funded project working on starting the green transition of small and mediumsized ports in the Southern Baltic Area.
